Looking to journey to the clouds? This one's for you!
Day 1: Singapore to Genting via a Private Car
The most popular way to get to Genting from Singapore would be via a 40-seater Coach but my family of 6 decided to book a Private Car this time round as our grandparents were tagging along.
We had arranged for the Private Car to pick us up right from our doorstep before sunrise to avoid the traffic jam at Woodlands Checkpoint.

To our delight, we crossed both the Singapore and Malaysia customs in a mere 20 mins and did not even have to exit the car throughout the whole process as passport checks could be done with us seated in the car!
After crossing Malaysia customs, the driver dropped us off near KSL mall so we could get a quick bite before we continued on our journey.

Had a bowl of Yi Mein (伊面)
At about 8.30am, we continued on our journey and made it to Genting at 3pm. It didn't feel like 6 hours as I could comfortably take a nap without any disturbance whatsoever and could empty my bladder anytime I wanted to.
Yes, just let your driver know if you need the toilet. They know where to stop, even if they're on the expressway!
The driver even stopped around noon time so that we could have lunch and would patiently wait for us to finish. After this experience with the Private Car, I don't think I'd settle for other modes of transport to Genting!
At 3pm, we checked into Resort Hotel by Resorts World Genting, one of the few hotels there that is connected to the Genting Theme parks and Casino.
The hotel room was simple and looked a little old but was still clean nevertheless. If I'm not wrong, there wasn't any aircon too but given the cool weather at Genting and the strong fan mounted on the ceiling, it wasn't hot at all. Before my stay, I had seen from some online reviews that they had a view of the theme park from the hotel too but all I could see was the fog.

It was still pretty cool how I could see the cable cars moving from my window though!
Tip: Request for connected rooms if you have the habit of visiting your family members'/friends' rooms!
After leaving all our belongings in the hotel, we hopped over to Skytropolis, Genting's Indoor Theme Park! I was genuinely so excited as it has been about a decade since I was here and I heard that it changed quite a bit after the overhaul... and it did not disappoint!

Skytropolis was just so.... pretty! It was decked out in neon lights and I loved staring at the Galactic Ceiling as I walked down the path. The pictures are really not doing any justice to it btw so you really have to see it for yourself 🙈
Anyways, if you're one of those who thinks that the indoor theme park is just full of "kiddy rides", here's where you're wrong. There were many rides that I didn't dare to take as it would spin me round 360 and the air would be permeated with screams every few seconds.

One of the rides that generated the most screams was Super Glider
Super Glider is a ride I've never seen elsewhere. Each carriage can fit 4 people and we start off by standing. As we "prepare for takeoff", the carriage would tilt until we are resting on our stomach in a superman position. If you'll like to be surprised, I suggest that you don't look for any other videos online so that the experience would be more exhilarating!
Tip: Queue for this first if you don't have much time at the theme park as we queued for 1.5hrs

Another ride we found really fun was the ride at the top of this picture. If you've been to Disney, its mechanism is similar to the Slinky Dog ride at Toy Story Land. It definitely wasn't as thrilling as Super Glider but it definitely brought smiles to our faces!
Tip: Get the day pass from Klook if you're looking to take >3 rides. Otherwise, paying for the rides separately might make more sense!
After we had enough fun, we headed to Grand Imperial Restaurant for dinner, which is just right beside some of the rides in the theme park. This restaurant has its own Genting Highlands Menu!

To digest all that we've had nad immerse in the christmas vibes, we took a walk around.
Last but not least, we ended the day with 2 Godiva Cones. They were alright but probably not worth the money :")

Day 2: Genting's SkyWorlds Theme Park
Started off our day with a hearty breakfast at Malaysian Food Street @ Genting SkyAvenue. There were many other food options but we were craving Dim Sum so...here's what we had!

After filling our tummies, we headed directly to the SkyWorlds Theme Park. We actually took quite a while to find the entrance as the place was just SO huge! When we finally found the place, there were many queues for purchasing tickets. Fortunately for us, we had bought our day pass on Klook so we could just directly scan the barcodes at the gantry to enter. Yay!
So this was Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park for us...
It started pouring right after we entered but that wasn't going to stop us from exploring! We quickly got ourselves a disposable raincoat from one of the stores (5SGD for one - boy are they expensive), donned it on and ventured out.
Tip: Bring your own raincoat / poncho so you wouldn't have to pay a premium there!
Almost everyone had a raincoat on! We took all our rides with our raincoats on too.
In addition to the rain, the fog made it really difficult to see what was beyond, which was kind of frustrating because we didn't know which way to head towards. Nevertheless, walking through the fog into the unknown was a whole new experience.
I found this weather to be so fitting for their Ice Age World! Whoever thought of the Ice Age theme was a genius. However, wet weather meant that some of their rides would be temporary unavailable due to safety reasons.
Tip: View attraction wait times and make Virtual Queue (VQ) reservations via the SkyWorlds app - a must-download if you're intending to head there!
The few rides we took using the Virtual Queue (VQ) Reservation feature.
Note that each person is only limited to 3 complimentary VQ reservations so make your choices wisely!
Tip: Start making your reservations the moment you step into the park as the slots would run out! Also make sure the time slots do not overlap so you have ample time to get to the next ride.
Even though there is already that allocated timeslot for you once you reserve a ride, we were normally allowed to enter 5-10mins before... but that's if you really have nothing to do in between and don't want to wait too long before getting on the next ride.
Day 3: Ripley's Adventureland & Pavilion Mall
Started off our day at Ripley's Adventureland as it was part of the Genting Highlands Pass we bought on Klook. This pass even includes a one-way ticket for the Awana SkyWay Gondola Genting Cable Car, which you can take to get to Genting Premium Outlets if buying branded goods is your thing.
Pro Tip: Get the Genting Highlands Pass from Klook if you’re interested to go for >2 attractions.

Ripley’s Adventureland basically comprises of 5 smaller attractions in 5 small rooms, namely:
4D Trick Art Museum
Infinity Room
Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Odditorium
Zombie Outbreak (We chickened out of this oops)
Jurassic Research Centre
Pro Tip: Will need to factor in 2-3 hours to cover everything if you don’t want to rush through them
We enjoyed the first 2 in particular as we could take many aesthetic shots together. Really loved how the pictures turned out as the colours were just so vibrant! I had been to the Trick Art Museum in Korea which was so popular that I had to queue for every photo but it was not the case here… possibly because not many people knew about the existence of this attraction and we were the only ones there then.
After exploring this small but whimsical land, we had a hearty lunch before leaving Genting for Kuala Lumpur (KL). Food options are aplenty in Genting so I will not be recommending any in particular… I promise you’ll have a great time exploring it on your own~
In less than 2 hours, we found ourselves at the entrance of Hyatt Place Kuala Lumpur Bukit Jalil.

This 4-star hotel is apparently the first Hyatt Place in Malaysia and only opened in 2023, which explained why everything was in pristine condition.

To the fitness junkies out there, the hotel even has a rooftop infinity pool and a 24/7 fitness and yoga room! The best part was that the hotel was only a stone throw away (~10min walk) from Pavilion Bukit Jalil Mall, one of the largest shopping malls in Malaysia.

We spent the next half of the day here ice skating at Blue Ice Snow Park, shopping and eating our hearts out!
Day 4: Splashmania & Mitsui Outlet Park
We began our morning with a simple hotel breakfast which was ~12 SGD/person. It was a little lacking in variety, with only a few options to choose from, but it was decent for the price and filled us up perfectly for the day.

Afterwhich, we had a splashing good time at a new waterpark in Selangor, Splashmania @ Gamuda Cove.

The weather was perfect that day and we were greeted with blue skies and fluffy white clouds. As soon as we stepped in, there was an option to take group photos for free!

Pro Tip: Scan the QR code after you’ve had your photos taken so that you’ll be able to download the photos in different border types!
After applying sunblock (yes please do!), do remember to store your belongings safely before commencing the fun. There are lockers so you won’t have to keep an eye on them while having fun. You’re allowed to reopen and relock your locker too should you require to take and store anything afterwards. It’ll be great to have some cash with you though so that you can rent additional floats for the lazy river and wave pool. I noticed that the locals there would get this waterproof lanyard to keep their phone and cash in.

With this waterproof lanyard, you can also take pictures while in water!
Pro Tip: Get a waterproof lanyard to keep your phone and cash in

Now this is probably the largest water theme park I’ve been to and if I’m not wrong there are a grand total of 39 water slides!! We were only able to take less than 10 rides in total though as there were queues for almost every slide. There were some we couldn’t take either since some have requirements such as a minimum number of people or minimum weight so do take note and check the signboard for more details.
Pro Tip: It’s better to go in even numbers because some of the floats are for 2 people
There was also this VR water attraction which we unfortunately were not able to take as the queue was too long and it began raining heavily as we were queueing.
Pro Tip: If you’re keen to take this, queue for this first once you enter the park!
To end off the fun and exhilarating day, we headed to Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA, which is also at Selangor. Our greatest haul was from Nike, where we bought a few footwear and apparel which we considered a steal! There was also a promotion at The Body Shop when we were there, which enticed my sister to purchase a few bottles of body and hand cream. We also managed to snag a good deal for a luggage from Samsonite. This was a place that we could spend the whole day at and we wished that we had allocated more time to this mall.
Day 5: Back to Singapore
The next morning, we went back to Pavilion and got ourselves some freshly baked egg tarts from Oriental Kopi before heading back to Singapore. The egg tart here is worth the try as they were so generous with the filling!
I mean… just look at this goodness
